The West Coast Wine Route isn’t your typical Cape wine route. Along the diverse Cape West Coast, you can be beside the sea, atop a mountain, and knee-deep in daisies all in a day. Cape West Coast Foodie Route
An exciting new Foodie Route has been launched on the Cape West Coast which showcases the countless flavour sensations found in the area. The self-drive circular route was created by West Coast Way and includes 10 unique stops taking you on a food and wine journey through the Cape West Coast, including the West Coast National Park with Geelbek Restaurant; Langebaan; Saldanha Bay; Jacobsbaai; Paternoster and Cape Columbine; St Helena Bay and Shelley Point; Velddrif; the West Coast Fossil Park; Hopefield; and the Thali Thali Game Lodge. Surrounded by beautiful towns, visitors can visit other local attractions including the West Coast Fossil Park and !Khwa ttu.

De Keldery at Namaqua Wines will send your taste buds on a journey with traditional meals. Enjoy an out-of-this-world food and wine experience while feasting your eyes on the breath-taking scenery. Vygevallei Farmstall
Vygevallei Farmstall on the R27 They re-opened the Winehouse and you will be able to buy wine from their own cellar and eight other cellars from the area and the Swartland. There is a large play area for kids and animals to feed. The farmstall has the best homemade bread and pies in the West and a large variety of jams and chutneys, enjoy meals while kids play in the play area.
!Kwha ttu San Culture and Education Centre
Their aim is to produce tasty and wholesome, freshly prepared food using locally sourced ingredients. Menus vary according to season and always include a selection of meat dishes using their own free-range game, reared here on their farmland. The rustic restaurant, overlooks Fynbos and the distant ocean. The restaurant serves a wide selection of good locally produced wines, many of which are available for tasting. Their focus is ‘Local is Lekker’. With delicious wines and cuisine, families can also enjoy their San guided tours that provide a glimpse into the life of the San, this includes a tractor ride and a visit to a replica traditional San village.
Groote Post
With the pleasant drive along the R27 and then turning right onto the Darling Hills Road to Groote Post one immediately gets into holiday mode.
After 10 km on the gravel road, turn right to the Groote Post cellar. Savour the beautiful farm vistas and when you stop at the Groote Post restaurant, known as Hilda’s Kitchen, take a stroll around the farmyard and the cellar to work up an appetite. The restaurant is in a gorgeous old historic farmhouse. With all dishes complementing the outstanding Groote Post wine range. Many patrons come back and back again to savour their specialties.
