Overview
Volcanoes Bwindi Lodge overlooks the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest Reserve in Western Uganda, close to where the gorilla treks start.
The Lodge is located just outside the reserve, around 500m from the gorilla trailhead.
Guests can spend the day mesmerized by exotic sounds, or watching primates and birds in the canopy from the terrace of the cottage which juts out into the forest. The main areas are similarly simple, but enjoy splendid views out over the dense forest and down the valley.
The eight stone and thatch cottages are comfortable but basic, with en-suite bathrooms. The décor in this wilderness safari lodge is contemporary and designed to blend in with its natural surroundings.
The expansive main terrace is ideal for enjoying sundowners, and the view is so enchanting that even the mountain gorillas occasionally amble in to relax in the gardens surrounding the lodge. Guests can follow the River Trail below the lodge and take a dip, perhaps watched by inquisitive monkeys.
